Colour: beige

Pattern: all over body pattern; tree of life, separated by double mock cables. The mock cable pattern is centred front and back, and at the sides.

Welt: 6 cm single rib (knit 1, purl 1)

Gusset: diamond shaped gusset, approximately 7 cm across and 25 cm long, worked in stocking stitch; opens out of mock cable pattern at sides.

Shoulders: ridge and furrow pattern (3 rows stocking stitch, 3 rows reverse stocking stitch) worked as an extension of the front at both sides of the neck, and cast off together with the back shoulder stitches.

Sleeves: plain stocking stitch with 1 purl false seam stitch from gusset to cuff; cuff single rib.

Neck: roll neck approximately 9 cm deep in single rib.

We have two similar ganseys by Mrs Buchan, one with six branches on the tree, the other with seven.
