Knitted by Mrs Elsie Buchan, Fraserburgh, about 1970

Colour: turquoise green (more jade than the photograph)

Pattern: all over body pattern; chevrons bordered by single mock cables. The mock cable pattern is centred front and back and at the sides.

Welt: 7 cm (2.75 inches) single rib (knit 1, purl 1)

Gusset: diamond shaped gusset, approximately 6.5 cm (2.5 inches) across and 22 cm (8.75 inches) long, worked in stocking stitch; opens out of mock cable pattern at sides.

Shoulders: 12 rows double moss stitch front and back, cast off together at top of shoulder

Sleeves: plain stocking stitch with 1 purl false seam stitch from gusset to cuff; cuff single rib, 4.5 cm (1.75 inches).  Total sleeve length 41 cm (16.5 inches)

Neck: roll neck approximately 11 cm (4.5 inches) deep in single rib.

We have two more ganseys by Mrs Buchan with this pattern, one in maroon, and one in grey.
